MISSISSAUGA WORKS - Mayor McCallion along with key community partners, brought together over 300 leaders representing business, education, not-for-profit groups, labour organizations and government for a half-day session to discuss and identify strategies and partnerships to increase employment in Mississauga.

The goals of the “Mississauga Works” Mayor’s Jobs Summit were to:

Better understand the employment challenges in Mississauga
Focus on the employment challenge for youth and newcomers
Discuss innovative solutions to support labour needs of business and industry sectors
Develop action plans to quickly increase long term attractive employment opportunities

The Summit included a number of keynote presentations, panel discussion, and all participants had an opportunity to provide input and comments on challenges and enablers to employment in the city thorough interactive roundtable discussions.

As a result of the many ideas developed at the Summit, a Job Summit Task Force led by the Mississauga Summit and Mississauga Board of Trade was established to develop short, medium and long-term strategies to improve employment in Mississauga.
